Since the Supreme Court’s landmark Bruen ruling many states have found ways to work around Supreme Court precedent and drastically restrict the ability of law-abiding people to carry firearms to protect themselves. Assembly Bill 3987 was introduced on Feb. 8, 2023 by Asm. William Barclay (R) and 15 Republican cosponsors. If passed, New York voters would consider an amendment to the state constitution prohibiting the infringement on the right to keep and bear arms in the 2024 general election. Just as we exercise our right to vote we exercise our right to bear arms. This is the greatness of being an American citizen. So shall we vote for candidates who will defend the Bill of Rights and not vote for those that refuse to protect it. New York’s unconstitutional gun control laws grievously refuse to honor the Constitution and need to fall in line with the Bruen ruling. We, the people, elect our leaders.
